WIP Wednesday 20.11.17

Current WIP count: 4

I have honestly never crocheted so fast in my life. I made a little amigurumi cat in one morning. I made an even smaller amigurumi cat in around 3 hours (although spaced out over a couple of days because teeny tiny work makes my wrists ache). I’ve made octopoms and fingerless gloves and a robin, and I’ve still not finished my gift list!

All my friends up in Glasgow have been accounted for though, so now I’m back to working on gifts for my family and friends down in England. This week it’s back to the Snorlax I started a while ago.

Looking like a Cluedo piece so far

He’s turning out bigger than I expected. So much so that I made it a quarter of the way into the body before having to go and get more yarn. Oops.

If I’d realised sooner, I definitely would have frogged, halved the pattern, and started again, but I’ve got too far and it’s too close to Christmas now so I shall soldier on! At least I know for next time.

Despite having to crochet almost non-stop, I’m really enjoying making gifts rather than buying them this year. I always found the buying a bit fraught; running around the shops trying to look at everything in the hope that something will jump out as perfect for X, Y, Z person.

Doing it this way, I can just think of what each person likes and then go ahead and make it. Much less stressful!

So what’s everyone else working on this week? Are you making your gifts or buying them, or both? Let me know in the comments!

    1. I think I do need to find a balance between the two, or maybe start my Christmas makes in June! I saw the tag on Instagram about people making Christmas things over the summer and I thought it was a bit daft, but now I totally understand

  1. Have to say this year mainly bought, and some of that was panic buying. Some of my family aren’t so easy to please (think, what do I get someone who seems to have everything and more!) – I have decided next year I will definitely make more and start early so I don’t go into panic mode, esp as this year I was poorly early December and couldn’t craft at all.

  2. Great work and soldiering on. 🙂 I’ve preferred to make most of the things I’ll be giving this year. I, too, wanted to avoid the shops and crowds this year for the most part and find ways to give in a more relaxed and happier way. It’s nice to find that meeting ground between making someone happier and doing something you enjoy.

    1. I have noticed I’ve been far less stressed this year, and I reckon it’s because I haven’t had to deal with the shops at all. I do have to head into town tonight for a few things so I’ll get to test that theory! Pray for me :p

  3. Aw well done on the making QWC … just be careful with the hand and wrist. Another blogger who I follow has injured her wrist and hand by trying to crochet up a steam. Make sure you take regular rests and let you hand do something totally different.

    Great makes! ~ Cobs. xxx

    1. Tamiiiiii!! I’ve been thinking about you, but I guessed you’d be super busy so I didn’t want to mither. So glad you’re okay 🙂
I can’t believe my card made it in time, I was sure it would be new year at least before they started arriving! Hooray I wasn’t quite as disorganised as I thought.
Congratulations on your promotion to Grandma, how exciting!! I can’t wait to see all the adorable baby makes coming up. And I promise not to tell anyone 😉
