Did I mention it was my birthday a couple of weeks ago? Honestly, April has whizzed past so quickly it feels like it was only yesterday.
Another present I got from my parents was a big box of yarn!
30 skeins to be exact; one for every year. There’s all sorts in there so I thought I’d have a proper look and share what I got.
There are some classics like a Caron Cake (have these shrunk??) Sugar n Cream, and some Women’s Institute in various colours.
Some gorgeously squishy stuff
Fun colourways
And my absolute favourite, the unicorn pack
It’s sparkly! I’m already digging around Ravelry trying to find the perfect project for it. Sparkly unicorn jumper anyone?
I really, definitely, absolutely must sort out my yarn stash now. Throwing it in all higgledy piggledy is just not working when I have so much. So that’ll be my exciting weekend!
Any suggestions for a pattern to use my unicorn yarn pack on? Let me know in the comments!
Hannah

What a fabulous gift! So many lovely skeins:)
I have no pattern suggestions but I bet if you look up the yarn on Ravelry you’ll find some ideas.

I wasn’t sure if it’d be a bit too generic to be on Ravelry, but it’s always worth a look!

Oooh, very nice! And happy belated birthday! As for your unicorn yarn (yarnicorn? 😁), if you knit as well as crochet , you might take a look at the Peppermint Twist sweater in the original Stitch’n’Bitch handbook by Debbie Stoller. It’s what I thought of when I saw those sparkly pastels! Enjoy your new stash 😀

Thank you! I can knit, but I’ve not tried anything complicated yet. I do like the sound of Stitch .n. Bitch though so I will check that out and see if I can manage it!

It’s definitely worth a look if you want to up your knitting game! It’s been around a while, but I think it’s still the knitting guide I refer to most 😀

belated happy birthday wishes to you! And what a brilliant idea your parents had: a ball of yarn for each birthday candle! Maybe I should suggest that to my kids for my next birthday?

Oh definitely, wouldn’t it be great if we got this for every birthday!

what a great present! That Unicorn pack is fab! If you find a good way of sorting/arranging/storing yarn, do let me know. Mine is just chucked in several boxes that I have to go rooting through for every project.

I was ill so I didn’t get round to sorting my stash this weekend. I do have some ideas for how it might work though, so I’ll let you know!

It’s hard to know where to begin, but I suspect the yarnicorn might just sneak out in front

Wow! Such a lovely gift! I opted for organising it on ravelry so I dont have to deal with organising in real life! Haha!
