One of my best friends recently told me she’s having a baby, so I’ve been on a bit of a making frenzy. They don’t know yet if it’s a boy or a girl, but my friend doesn’t buy into gendered colours anyway so I’ve pretty much got carte blanche and I’ve just been using anything I fancy from my stash.
There are these ginger dragon scale bootees (my friend is ginger and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a ginger baby too. They’re the cutest), which just need buttons sewing on.
I’ve started a comfort blanket, not following a pattern this time so there’s been a bit of frogging and I’m still not 100% sure how it will turn out.
It’s definitely going to be a bunny blanket. I’m currently trying to decide what colour to use for the inner ears. I could go pink or blue or yellow to match the yarn, but I’m kind of thinking a contrast would be better, maybe cream or light brown. It might be a case of just having a play and seeing what looks best.
I love this colourful cotton so much that I’ve also started a matching pair of bootees with it. Nothing photo-worthy yet though.
This is the friend for whom I made a rainbow octopom at Christmas so I’m also planning to make a mini one using the same yarn for baby.

I’d really love to make some proper baby clothes too, but it might not happen. This is my friend’s first baby so I imagine they’re going to be quite spoilt for choice, and she might not want any more clothes lying around!
The poor dragon is still in bits although I have made a start on the final wing piece.

So, even though baby isn’t due until November/December, that’s pretty much all I’ve been thinking about this week. How’s your week going? What are you working on right now? Let me know in the comments!

Great WIPs! I love making baby stuff, and the comfort blanket is such a good idea. I’m sure she will love all these items. Happy Making this week!

Everything looks wonderful but I think my favorite is the rainbow octopus. I can’t wait to see your dragon when it’s done!

I really must get him done soon. Despite having no eyes, he’s still managing to look at me accusingly every time I work on something else

Wow you have been super busy! The bootees will be great as those with a longer leg stay on better:)

Good to know, I shall make sure the cotton ones are longer as well π

Yes I always found the cute little ones fell off and were lost. Even better if they have a tie on them so baby canβt pull them off

I’ve got a long weekend coming up and I’m determined to at least finish all the parts for my dragon. I can’t guarantee I’ll sew the whole lot together though…

So many cool makes on the go! Knitting for babies is the best, isn’t it? Everything makes up so nice and quickly. I really love the dragon scale booties, I’m sure your friend will too!

They do, as long as you don’t get halfway through, decide you hate, and frog the whole lot. Not that I would ever do such a thing!
