Happy birthday to me (2019 edition)

It’s my birthday today and as a present to myself I have started the Changing Tides Blanket CAL hosted by Eleonora at Coastal Crochet.

The first part was released just yesterday so it’s definitely not too late to join in.

Nobody got me yarn for my birthday (!!!), and I’m still trying not to buy too much new stuff, so I’m going with whatever colours I have in my stash. I learned my lesson after the Lego blanket and I’ve made sure that all the yarn I’m using is the same thickness. From now on the pencil test is my best friend!

I’m determined this will be the CAL I actually keep up with (looking at you, Havana.) and I reckon it’s a good sign that I’ve actually started it on time.

Here are some goodies other people got me for my birthday:

Unicorn biscuit
Chocolate books
Real books

Mum and Dad also got me a ticket to a Toft workshop to make my very own Morag the higland coo amigurumi! We searched and searched for a kit, but couldn’t get hold of one for love nor money so when Mum found this workshop she jumped on it. It’s not til May though so there’s a bit of a wait before I get my Morag. I can be patient…

What’s everyone else up to this weekend? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Happy Birthday! I just had a birthday on the 6th. I didn’t get yarn either lol. I used my birthday money in a store called Five Below (everything is $5 or less) but I had wanted a set of interchangeable knitting needles. We took a bunch of surveys so i could get them.
You know, I’ve only ever done one CAL and it was a mystery CAL. The result was not a pretty Afghan lol. It’s a mess. I hope yours comes out better.

    1. Thanks!
I kind of like the idea of mystery CALs, but there is always that possibility that you won’t like it. Eleonora left it up to individuals whether they wanted to see it before starting or not – I went straight over and had a look!
