Argh these not-rainbow socks! The pooling is playing slightly different with this second sock, and I don’t know if I can just let it slide.
I’ve no idea how this is happening, as I’m using the same skein of yarn on the same needles as the first sock.
Curse you again, accidental colour pooling!!
To give myself a break from misbehaving yarn, I also cast on my first Rose City Rollers.
I must say I’m not a fan of this heel method; picking up stitches gets me so tense. For my next pair (yes, I’m already planning it) I might stick a different heel in and see if I can make it work.

What have your previous heels been? I’ve only ever done cuff down, heel flap socks, so I have little to compare to!

I’ve done an integrated heel and German short rows, neither of which involve picking up any stitches. I much prefer that.

You should be able to substitute any heel in any sock, which is the joy of them ๐ I agree that the picking up stiches thing is less t han ideal, but sometimes I deal with it because it really has the best fit for me.

I figured I would try it once to see how I liked it, but I don’t know if I’ll do this kind of heel again.

I can easily remember when I was so excited by colour pooling ! – and now all I read about it is complaints like yours. Plus รงa change .. ๐

I find colour pooling really interesting, and I’d love to do a deliberate project one day, but I don’t like it when I wasn’t looking for it.

I get it. ๐

Picking up stitches can be a bitch – definitely not my favourite thing to do!

It’s just so fiddly and slow!

I actually like the random colour pooling ^^

It is growing on me. Slowly!

Color pooling can be tricky. Do you have the same stitch count? Maybe your tension is a little different?
Your Rose City Rollers are looking cute! That heel is a bit fiddly, but you should be able to substitute a different one and it should work out fine ๐

My stitches are the same, but it was during a particularly stressful week so I probably messed up with the tension.

Don’t think of it as messing up. You’re experimenting with stitch tension, that’s all!

That’s a very original striping, more like a wave? I find it pretty as it is. Regarding the second picture, did you start with the heel? Intriguing. Thanks for sharing and happy knitting ๐

No, it’s just a very short ankle sock so there’s only about an inch before the heel bit starts. I prefer short socks.

Ah now I see it! Then they will be ready pretty fast. Have fun ๐

Just like people, every rainbow is unique. Actually that is probably not a sound scientific statement but I wanted you to feel better! haha

Well it worked ๐ They are definitely unique socks, I’m happy with that.

Almost time for another monday! I’m so slow! Love the Rose city socks – I’ve had them in my rav queue for ages one day I will cast them on!!

I’ve had them on my list for a while too, so it’s good to finally get on with them! Hermione’s Everyday Socks are next.

You get used to picking up the stitches, I pick them up with a completely different needle so I am using about six needles when I do this part

Ooft I’d definitely get in a muddle with that many needles at once!
