Ugh I knew WP wouldn’t let us keep the classic editor. I cannot work this one for toffee so my posts are going to be a mess for a while.
But the good news is hooray, it’s quiz time again! This time it’s about giving gifts.
Do you gift your handmade items?Eventually. Unless I’m making something specifically for someone then my FOs usually sit in a box until an occasion or suitable person arises.
Do you have limits around who you gift to or what you gift?
I used to give to anyone and everyone, but now I’ll only make presents for family and very close friends. Somehow they just seem to appreciate it more.
What type of things do you like to make and gift?
I looooove giving amigurumi! Whatever someone is into there will be an ami pattern out there, and I love seeing people’s eyes light up when they see their favourite character/person/animal/snack food replicated in yarn.
Have you received handmade items?
I have a crochet blanket that I won in a raffle, and there have been many handmade cards over the years, but I can’t think of any gifts at the moment.
Have you ever asked for a gift back?
Er no. That’s not how gifts work.
Do you gift handmade items for holidays?
I have for the last few years, but I’m not sure that’s sustainable. We’ll see.
So there you have it. Feel free to join in if you want!

I hate this new editor too. Takes five times longer and i can’t work out how to edit photos on it!

Me neither, it’s just rubbish.

I’ve really limited the amount of people that I’ve made birthday and Christmas gifts for over the last few years. Next year I’m making a list of people I want to make gifts for and I’ll make and gift them sporadically. I don’t care if it takes years to get through it. I’m over having knitting deadlines. I’ve turned it into a JOB and I’m burnt out.

That sounds like a much more manageable way to do it.

Oh, oh. Now I have to learn the new editor…
I gift like crazy to people that I think are knit worthy; if they destroy the gift I never knit for them again, and if they regift the present they are toast in my contact list. 🙂

Oh yes, people only get one chance to prove their knit-worthiness. Regifting something handmade is just so rude.

Interesting reading the different takes on gifting handmade items 🙂 I never thought of amigurumi though. That is a great idea!

It’s great, considering the number of friends I have who love pokemon 😉

HAHA “er no that’s not how gifts work” that made me LOL. It’s true, but there have been two instances where I gave someone something I loved and they didn’t appreciate it and I kind of wanted to ask for it back. I’m sure that’s a failing on my part, though. 🙂

I probably would under those circumstances, but I guess I’m too selfish to give away things I really love 😉

Yeahhhhhh… I was a BIG fan of the classic editor, but forced myself to learn blocks… I’m still not loving aspects of it, but you’ll get there!

It just doesn’t seem to be logical to me.

I really don’t like that new editor either 😩 And I’ve started gifting some amis too, I just have so many with all the pattern tests/pattern designs I’ve been doing lately!

I have not yet come across anyone who does like it. I think it was a mistake to change everything so drastically.

Nearly everything I make is a gift.

That would certainly help with my storage situation…
