Sock it to me Monday on a Tuesday

Is it definitely Tuesday? I’m having some trouble with days at the moment. That’s probably why I haven’t got much sock progress to show (it’s nothing to do with playing a lot of Zelda, obviously).

The second heel has been turned on the boyfriend’s socks and I’m now whizzing through the foot section.

The pattern is mirrored from the other sock so I can’t quite coast along already knowing what I’m doing, but I’ve got the gist of it. I’m hoping these will be FOs pretty soon.

As for the shortie sock, I’m STILL undecided so it hasn’t had a single stitch added yet. I just don’t know.

In other news, my recruitment agency has found me a job to start tomorrow. Good news is it’s working from home. Bad news is it’s temporary.

I want to be happy that I’ve got something, but my brain is telling me the rest of my life will be jumping from temp job to temp job, never being secure, always the new girl, renting forever because I’m a bad bet for a mortgage. Isn’t anxiety fun.

I’ve got a video call with them this afternoon and they’ll give me more details, so hopefully that will help ease some of my worry.

  1. When the world returns to normal (what is normal anyway?) I am sure that you will find a great permanent job and fulfill your dream of having a mortgage. Keep your chin up and enjoy each day as it comes.

  2. Yay for the temp job! However, that doesn’t mean you need to stop looking for a permanent job. It is going to happen, never fear! And who knows, temp jobs can often turn to permanent jobs. This is definitely a strange time, but it will pass.
Also, the sock is looking great!

  3. Which Zelda have you been playing? 🤓 I love the yarn you’re using for those socks, so nice! And it’s great news for the job, who knows, some temporary jobs end up becoming permanent if the circumstances are right ☺️

      1. I love that game!! Ganondorf was so hard to beat though but I eventually made it 🤓 (also I don’t own the game either, I was playing at one of my friends place 😅)

  4. I too am losing track of the days. Without the usual markers of regular events like work or clubs it happens. Great news about the job even if it is only temporary. A lot of people are out there looking so to get anything is a real achievement and suggests you are very employable. I hope you enjoy it and working from home. One day a new normal will establish itself.

  5. I understand your worries about the new job being temporary but, in today’s climate, I’d say working from home (even temporary) is probably best. Yes, it means that long-term plans still have to kept on hold, but it’ll mean money in the bank, more experience for your CV which will look even more impressive when you send it out again for that permanent job which, I’m sure, is out there somewhere!
