Was Santa good to you?

Well I was spoilt rotten this Christmas, with lots of crafty gifts.

My mum got me some gorgeous crochet books.

Plus some crafty bits and bobs.

My sister also added to the collection with these two books, and a little pack of yarn to make them with.

How lucky am I!

What did everyone else get for Christmas?

WIP Thursday 23.08.18

Current WIP count: 7

This week I’ve been focussing on my broomstick cowl and Roses for Grandma blanket. The cowl is now finished crochet-wise so my next task is finding some suitable buttons for it. I’m thinking dark grey would look good, but I don’t know for certain that I’ve got any big enough in my button stash so I might have to make a trip to the fabric store and buy some. What a hardship!

The logical side of my brain keeps telling me that I should do each stage of Roses for Grandma one at a time; all the roses, then all the leaves and so on. But the childish side gets bored far too easily so I’m chopping and changing between them all, as and when I feel like it.

So far I’ve got 3 complete squares, 4 roses with leaves, and 4 roses on their own, plus my playing around with forget-me-nots. I’ve got a ways to go, but I’m still not bored with it!

What’s everyone else working on? Are you having a good week? Let me know in the comments!

Stitching santa 2017

I know I’m a bit late to the party, I didn’t manage to get any passable photos before heading to see my parents for a week. But I’m back now so here is my stitching santa gift!

Some gorgeous, squishy, beautiful yarn

Some lip balm

A pretty brooch

A notebook (you can never have too many)

A dinky little dove

Some candles

This super pretty…I think it’s a pot holder?

Look at this detail!

And buttons!! My favourite!

There were also some chai teabags and some hot chocolate, but they’re long gone 😉

Thank you sooo much Julia for my amazing present! Oh and a lovely card

And mahoosive thanks to Sewchet for setting this all up. It’s been so much fun, giving and receiving, and I’m definitely signing up next year.

Happy new year everyone!

FO Friday 20.10.17

First of all, apologies for the quality of these photos. I have been doing battle with this thing so long that it’s now completely dark outside.

It’s all because of buttons.

I have a lot of buttons. A lot. I spent a couple of evenings sifting through them trying to find a style that 1. I liked 2. went with the cowl colours and 3. I had enough of. You wouldn’t believe the number of buttons I have in sets of four, and of course this needs five.

I finally managed to narrow it down to two options; lovely brass and shiny purple.

But I just could not decide between the two, so off I went to instagram and facebook and had a poll. It was close for a bit, but then purple took off and became the clear winner.

But (of course there’s a but) while attaching said buttons, there was a casualty

I haven’t got any more of these.

So the choice wa made for me; this baby got brass buttons.

But nobody told me how different attaching buttons is when it’s knitting rather than crochet.

And why is weaving in the ends so difficult?

What am I doing wrong??

Anyway it’s finished at last, and ready to go into the shop when I can get some proper photos. Phew.

Who’s ready for the weekend (me me me!)? Got any FOs this week? Let me know in the comments!
