30 days has September

August turned out to be really quite productive.

I finished off my shawl and star blanket, I tried out a granny basket, made a gift for my sister, got some knitting done, and made so many cards they’re literally piling up.

There was even time to make it to an all day Sacred Harp singing and my monthly book club as well!

I reckon I’d be quite entitled to a rest after all that, but I’m still planning to have a useful September as well.

I have invested in a really big piece of white card, which I can hopefully use as a backdrop for some better photos. I also realised that the light bulb in my hallway is about ten times brighter than the one in my living room, which is stupid if you ask me, so I’m going to swap them round and that should also help with less-terrible photos. And being able to see what I’m doing in the living room.

The yarn for my brother’s Christmas present(s) has arrived so I’m going to make a start on that, as well as some little Christmas goodies to be listed in the shop. Feeling terribly organised, even though I know some people started with Christmas in July.

I’m also going to finish off all the little bits of projects that are hanging around and getting on my nerves.

So that’s my (rough) plan for September; better photos so I can stock the shop, finishing up, and Christmas! What’s everyone else got planned? Or are you just going to wing it? Let me know in the comments!

WIP Wednesday 26.07.17

Current WIP count: 10

I’m weak! With only 3 things crossed off my WIP list, I started another one.

But really, how could I resist this gorgeous tabby cat yarn from Mothy and the Squid?

Especially after I managed to turn it into a rather presentable cake.

To understand how proud I am of this little ball, here’s the last skein I tried to turn into a cake.

It took me 10 days to sort the mess I made.

So this beautiful yarn was sitting on the table, staring at me, when I came across the Lost In Time shawl pattern. It was an intsant yes! This is what I have so far and already I love it:

As for my other WIPs, I’ve done more rounds on the star blanket, and now I’m trying to decide whether I really want to use a whole second Caron Cake on it. I’m beginning to think not. Maybe I could use the rest to make various matching accessories. We’ll see.

Still behaving.

Side note: working on a sock yarn and an aran yarn project at the same time is a strange experience. It always feels like I’m either working with cobwebs or nautical rope.

There’s been a little progress on the doily; somewhat stalled because I’m really not sure about the colours I’ve chosen. I’m waiting for the requester to get back to me and let me know if it’s okay.

I also tried attaching two wheels to the camper van, but they’re wonky. I have yet to face removing them and trying again.

Curse these wheels.

The two kindle cosies are on the blocking mats and I’ll sew them up once they’re dry.

So we’re still in double figures for my WIP list, but I have to admit I’m not sorry at all!

What are you working on this week? Started any irresistible WIPs? Let me know in the comments!

FO Friday 21.07.17

I have managed to shrink my WIP list, hooray! Although only a little

Here is my super cute finished cactus pin cushion.

Thank goodness I never have to use that yarn ever again.

My third finished octopom.

wp-image--1168296702

I used a bigger hook for this guy so he’s turned out with a bigger head, but somehow I managed to stitch his face the same size as the smaller poms so he’s ended up looking quite smug. Oh well, I’m sure somebody will love him.

And that’s all I’ve managed to finish. Curse those camper van wheels, that’s all I’m gonna say.

In other terribly exciting news, I made my first Etsy sale!! *happy dance*

As an added bonus, it wasn’t a member of my family or a friend. A complete stranger on the internet found my card and decided it was worth spending money on. I’m so happy 😀

This is just the boost I needed to get my backside into gear and list all my stock. Now I know for defnite that people are willing to pay for my items, but they won’t be able to if they’re just sitting in my FO drawer never to be seen!

So that’s my Friday. 2 WIPs down, 10 to go!

Who else is having a good Friday? Got a FO to share? Let me know in the comments!

WIP Wednesday 19.07.17

I’m doing so well – I’ve managed not to start a single new WIP since last week!

*is proud*

Here’s the progress I’ve made on the existing ones so far:

Camper van amigurumi

20170718_200131-1
Well this is much bigger than I thought it would be. I was expecting a diddy thing about the size of my mini octopoms, but it’s as long as my whole hand.

All I have left to do is stitch the window dividers and attach the wheels, then I’m done!

Puff stitch scarf

Screenshot_2017-07-19-08-34-30-1

I didn’t like the colour changes in the caron cake I used (there’s a tiny bit of light pink at the beginning, which was the only bit of light pink in the whole cake) so I did a bit of jiggery pokery with another Mixed Berry cake I just happened to have on hand. Thank goodness for BOGOF sales.

I’m really pleased with the colours now, and I love this pattern so much I’ve been trying to work out if I can make a matching hat. I’ve got to use the rest of the other cake somehow!

Star blanket

I’ve done a few rounds on this, keeping a beady eye on the join for each round, and so far I seem to be doing it right this time. But I know it’s a tricksy thing so I’m not going to relax my concentration for a second.

Doily

I’ve only made a wee start on this, but that’s better than nothing 🙂

Amigurumi cactus

I’m sooooo close to finishing! I love the cute little face.

Kindle cosy x1

I made a mistake last week. One cosy only needs sewing up and it’s done; the other one needed a few more rows. I’ve done the rows so it’s tall enough, and now it only needs sewing up as well.

No news on anything else from my long list. Even though I had a wonderful 4-day weekend off work, I also took out a stack of books from the library and I have not yet figured out how to read and crochet at the same time. For once, reading won.

Let’s see how many of these I can get ready for a FO Friday post!

What’s everyone else working on? Let me know in the comments!

WIP Wednesday

I realised I have an awful lot of WIPs going on at the moment.  So I thought I’d name and shame, and hopefully that’ll motivate me to get some of them finished!

Camper van amigurumi

My mum asked me to make this, so of course it jumped straight to the top of my WIP list. Isn’t it cute! I really hope mine will actually look like the photo…

12-pointed star blanket

After frogging this thing almost back to the beginning twice, I can’t wait to get it done and crossed off the list.

Oval star doily

Another commission, which I got by crocheting during my choir rehearsals. Craft in public, people; you never know what might come of it! I’ve waited over a month for the yarn to arrive so this is second on the priority list after the camper van.

Amigurumi cactus.

What is this yarn?? It’s terrible! But my cactus is turning out super cute despite my yarny struggles  🙂

Puff stitch scarf

20170712_182507-1

I’m still loving the puff stitch, and this scarf is growing super quick. I’ll probably be able to use it as soon as it’s finished if the Scottish weather keeps living up to its reputation.

Lacy scarf

Confession: I had completely forgotten about this scarf. I found it at the bottom of my WIP drawer and had an “oh yeah!” moment. Shame.

Kindle cosy x2

20170712_182536-1

These are both nearly done, I’ve just been putting off the finishing touches for some reason.

Chevron doggy blanket

It was supposed to be a baby blanket, but this is very old acrylic yarn that squeaks across my hook if I go too fast. You know the type. Nobody would put this anywhere near a baby’s skin.

Mystery hook

I had an idea, which I’m still trying to work out. Hopefully there will be a post soon where I can declare it an amazing success!

Amigurumi octopod keyring

20170712_171051-1

20170709_111057-1
Another idea I had, which is proving somewhat successful. I’ve made two so far, tweaking the pattern each time, and this is my third attempt.

Celtic knot coaster

I also forgot about this. More shame.

So there’s my list. My looooong list. I think it’s time to implement a new rule: no new WIPs until this lot is finished!

What’s everyone else working on? Got more than one WIP on the go? Let me know in the comments
