One week to go!

Current WIP count: 12

I’m not panicking, why would I be panicking, are you panicking?

My Dad’s hat just needs 3 more centimetres before I start decreasing. And it looks like I’ll have to get the train down to my parents rather than driving so I’ll have plenty of time to finish it.

I hit a slight snag with the bracelets when the covering kept unwinding from the elastic, making it too wide to fit through the bead holes, but I gave the ends a quick coat in clear nail varnish and now I’m rolling. These will be done in a couple of hours, max.

There’s been a slight reprieve with baby Flax Light. My friend hasn’t had chance to sort all her Christmas shopping, so we’re having a meet up in the new year to exchange presents instead of making this week more stressful than it needs to be. So I now have an extra week or two to get these sleeves finished and I can focus on other presents, yay!

My running hat now looks like this, and I’m trying to decide whether to give it ribbing or not. Thoughts?

Also, I’m a glutton for punishment and started ANOTHER gift. In black. The yarn is Paintbox Simply Chunky so it should work up pretty quick. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Nearly there!

Current WIP Count 8:

I pretty much didn’t move on Sunday; I just sat on the sofa, with Parks and Recreation on my laptop, and sewed bricks together.  So now I’m about 3/4 done with the blanket and ooooooh it’s looking good if I do say so myself!

The bottom right corner is all laid out to make sure I got the colours in the right places – it still needs joining. So close!

But I’m not sure I’ll meet the deadline now, as my friend is in hospital and I’ve been spending my evenings visiting them instead of joining bricks. The blanket recipient will understand though so I’m not worrying about it. It’ll be done when it’s done!

I finally got time at the weekend to start joining some Lego bricks together. And ran into trouble almost immediately, as all these ‘chunky’ yarns are vastly different when it comes to thickness so my bricks aren’t all the same size.

I’m making do, but it definitely doesn’t look quite as I imagined and I’m not sure there’s enough blocking in the world to fix it. At least this is for my dad so he’s contractually obligated to love it 😉

This is almost 2/3 done, not including the border. Saturday is the deadline and I’ve got another 3-hour train journey on Friday night that I can dedicate to it, so I’m pretty confident I’ll have a finished blanket ready to go on time. Still, keep your fingers crossed for me!

All the other WIPs are calling to me so I’m looking forward to getting this blanket done and dusted and getting back to them. I admit I did knit a few stitches of my Flax Light on Sunday – after a whole day of sewing bricks together I just needed to do something different for a wee bit!

What’s everyone else working on? Let me know in the comments!

With the baby blankets done and dusted, I can now focus on my dad’s birthday present. It’s going to be a Lego blanket, using lots and lots of these ‘bricks’ (which are really difficult to photograph!).

I figured out how to make them myself, which I’m quite proud of.

On Sunday I had a 3-hour train journey and I was hoping to spend the whole time crocheting, but I’m a total dingbat and packed the wrong hook size so I couldn’t do anything. Basically I just took my yarn on a field trip.

It did give me an excuse for a proper reading session though – silver lining!

So I’m nowhere near as far along with the blanket as I hoped to be at this point and I can’t guarantee it’ll be finished in time, which would be a shame.

But I’m not admitting defeat yet. There’s a fairly clear weekend coming up and I’m going to spend most of it crocheting.

Wish me luck!
