White rabbits!

I have two totally different finishes to show for myself this week.

After a solid weekend of crochet and Buffy/Angel, I finished the Kalinda shawl with only a slight adjustment to the pattern.

It’s such a simple pattern that I didn’t want to add any faff with the border. I planned to end with another row of dc, but halfway down the first side I realised that the yarn was running out rather quickly and I would never win this game of yarn chicken. So I frogged back and went for a row of sc with 3 chains at the point to make it a bit pointier. I think it looks pretty good!

It is suuuuuper tempting to hold on to this beauty, but I already have more than enough scarves and shawls so now I have to decide who to give it to.

Stats
Yarn: Cotton Kings Twirl
Colourway: Brazilian Opal
Hook: 3.5mm
Pattern: Kalinda shawl by Crochetory

My second finish is the Caron Cake project bag I started a couple of weeks ago.

I’m still not a huge fan of the colours so not tempted to keep this one. Would anyone be interested in a giveaway for it?

It was pretty simple to make so I might do another one for myself in prettier colours.

Stats
Yarn: Caron Cake x2
Colourway: Strawberry trifle
Hook: 5.5mm
Pattern: One skein wonder carry-all

And that’s what I did this week. Anyone else got some FOs? Interested in winning the bag? Let me know in the comments!

Hey guess what? I GOT A NEW JOB!!

It’s only for 3-6 weeks, but it’s a start and a break from my anxiety-panic. Win!

Anyway, my FO this week is another order from a member of my choir. Who knew singing could be so profitable?

The request was for a poncho for a little girl who has a tube going into her stomach, so she can’t wear jumpers to keep warm. Colour and pattern were left up to me so I went for a dragonfly poncho.

I think I might be having a purple and cream phase. It’s some generic spangly acrylic I had in my stash, which came out nice and soft after a quick wash.

Hopefully I can hand this over at choir on Monday and get it to its final owner asap.

Oh I also made a couple of birthday cards, one for my mum and one for a friend.

They both arrived on time, which makes me super happy. It must be a carry-over from my goal last year!

So that’s my week, hopefully my last without a job for a while. How’s your week been? Finished anything crafty? Let me know in the comments!

It’s been a while (and also Christmas) so there’s quite a few FOs to share today.

I’ll start with my tastiest gift; a Baileys baked cheesecake.

My friend is awesome and let me have a piece, and it was goooood if I do say so myself. Which is a huge relief, as I’ve never made a baked cheesecake before so there was always the possibility that it would be rubbish.

I finished up the ‘matching’ cushions for my parents. A robin for my mum

And a hedgehog for my dad.

Here’s the back before I attached it:

My sister got a pair of modified frostvirka mittens, this time as fingerless gloves

Screenshot_2019-01-04-08-19-40-1.png

I used chunky yarn so not only were they quicker than the last pair, there were also fewer ends to sew in. Win!

And finally, to finish off the Sunrise Scarf I had to tag in a wee bit of my previous Twirl. It’s kind of a sudden jump in colour compared to the rest, but I think it just about works.

Not quite as many presents as I was hoping to make for Christmas, but considering how quickly the year ran past and the fact that I spent December facing redundancy it’s really not a bad show. How’s your new year going so far? Got any new FOs to share? Let me know in the comments!

FO Friday 21.12.18

I’m getting there, two Christmas presents done and dusted this week.

During the weekend away in October I had a somewhat tipsy conversation with our Musical Director about how various musical notes would look in 3D rather than written on a page. At my current skill level and with the limited time left, I could only manage a simple crotchet, but I hope he’ll like it.

Screenshot_2018-12-21-19-25-06-1.png

Although I rather hope he doesn’t like it too much and ask for a whole set. Black yarn is not my friend!

I also finished off the drake I started aaaaaages ago, feeling very glad that I’d binned the wings. There were already far too many pieces to sew together without them.

If I make another one I’m definitely using safety eyes because I am pants at sewing details on my amigurumi. SO unimpressed with these eyes.

I can’t believe Christmas is on Tuesday! This weekend is going to be busy busy with frantic crochet finishes. How’s everyone else getting on? *hugses* for anyone else feeling that last-minute panic!

FO Friday 07.12.18

Crochet magazines are just terrible, always jumping into my shopping basket when I’m not looking.

This time Inside Crochet came home with me, which is nothing at all to do with the adorable little snowflake decoration kit that came with it.

I couldn’t sleep last night so I got to it and finished both decorations in just over an hour.

Yay insomnia!

It was nice to get some little finishes when all my other projects are a bit of a mission.

Oh and I made a birthday card

I am enjoying playing with these tiny triangles.

So how was your week? Got any FOs to share? Let me know in the comments!

FO Friday 30.11.18

They’re finally finished! I have a matching pair of Lingonberry Frostvirka mittens!!

Man am I happy to get these off the hook, they might be the most stressful project I’ve ever made. Crochet is meant to be the opposite of stressful!

The offending thumbs

But they’re done now and they do look pretty, so it’s still a win.

I’m looking forward to handing them over to their new owner. She asked for mittens, but didn’t specify colour or style, and I’ve kept them secret (she doesn’t read my blog) so they’re still going to be a surprise. I love giving surprises!

If anyone’s interested, I made these using Women’s Institute Soft & Silky in Amethyst and Cream. A gorgeous colour combo if I do say so myself.

Now, on to the next Christmas present!

FO Friday 16.11.18

Wow we’ve passed the halfway point for November already. It’s nearly Christmas!!

Baby items are just the best; they’re so small even the knitted ones go quickly. I cast on the Leafy Baby Blanket on Saturday and now just under a week later it’s finished.

The bottom edge was a bit squiffy, but I’m hoping that blocking will sort it out.

And I love the leafy pattern, although it’s not showing up very well while the yarn is wet.

It feels like very fast drying yarn so hopefully I’ll be able to hand it over to my friend in a couple of days.

That’s my finish for this week. Anyone else got some FOs to share? Let me know in the comments!

FO Friday 09.11.18

My Nautilus is finally finished! It’s so pretty.

And also enormous; I’ve had to pin some of it to my carpet because the blocking mats aren’t big enough.

I can’t wait for it to dry out so I can start wearing it!

In non-yarny news, one of my colleagues is leaving for a new job today so I made her a leaving card.

It’s inspired by Claire93’s F2F quilt, with the added bonus that my colleague used to live in Amsterdam so windmills have special meaning to her.

That’s what I’ve been doing this week, and now I’m wondering what to knit to fill the Nautilus-shaped hole in my life. What’s everyone else up to? Got some FOs to share? Let me know in the comments!

FO Friday 02.11.18

Happy Friday everyone! Is it me or has this been a really long week?

I finished the final robin for my mum and here’s the full set. With pompoms!

The one in the blue hat has been adjusted; I just didn’t like the way the eyes looked so I moved them a bit closer together.

20181102_154511-1.jpgIt’s been a long while since I mentioned them, but I did finish the baby blanket and matching bootees for my friend having a baby.

I’m pretty proud of them. Plus I took them to choir to hand over, and got 2 crochet orders from other choir members! Total win.

That’s what I’ve done this week. Anyone else got FOs to share? Any fun plans for the weekend? Let me know in the comments!

FO Friday 26.10.18

I finished one robin for my Mum, aside from the pompom on his hat. I’ve never made a mini pompom before so I may yet end up buying some.

20181025_221744-1.jpg

As usual, my second attempt was much better.

20181025_221831-1.jpg

I so prefer the second one, I’m actually considering unpicking the first one and moving the eyes closer together. They’re just slightly too low and wide for my liking.

Hopefully I can get the third one finished up ready to give them all to my Mum this weekend. I’m going to a friend’s wedding tomorrow and I’m trying to work out whether it’s acceptable to knit during the ceremony…

So that’s my FOs for this week. Anyone else finished something? Got some fun plans for the weekend? Let me know in the comments!

FO Friday 19.10.18

Last week I tested an amigurumi pattern for Gigi of The Stitched Seal. This here is Samuel the squid.

He’s just so gorgeous!! Lookit those tentacles.

I set aside two balls of Sugar ‘n’ Cream for the make, but he only needed one so I’m seriously considering making him a squiddy friend.

That’s all I’ve finished for this week, but tonight I’m off for a weekend away with lots of free time for knitting and crochet, so hopefully I’ll have a few FOs to share next time!

What’s everyone else up to this weekend? Got any FOs to share? Let me know in the comments!
