November review

I met my goal for November!  I have done something creative for the last 30 days straight, which I’m pretty proud of.

There were a few marathon knitting sessions, plus my usual crafting while singing at various choirs, but it’s mainly been 10 minutes here and there when I could fit it in. That didn’t sound like much at the beginning of the month, but I’ve made some real progress.

Baby Flax Light just needs some sleeves:

My cupcake hat is nearly finished (it’s one of those where you knit a tube and then cinch the top row of stitches together):

And I’ve made a solid start on my running hat:

Plus, as you might have noticed from the Flax photo, I learned a new-to-me technique this month after Ava suggested using magic loop for the tiny little sleeves. Turns out it’s not scary at all, although it is quite fiddly and I’m not entirely convinced yet. Maybe I just need practice and it will grow on me.

So yay, that’s a win for me goals-wise! But I’m still not going to set any for December. There’s too much Christmas going on to be thinking about goals, so I’m just going to buy presents for most people and work on the few planned handmade gifts whenever I get chance.

November goal – week 2

I officially love baby knits. It took weeks and weeks (if not months) to plough through the body section of my own Flax Light, but one session in a hospital waiting room and I’m already on to the ribbing for this one.

Look how tiny and cute it is!!

Not quite sure what I’m going to do with the sleeves, as even my short circulars might be a bit too long for this. Maybe third time will be the charm for DPNs? Either way, I’m getting more confident that my wee jumper will be finished in time for baby’s birthday.

I have worked on literally nothing else in the last week, but I’m pleased I’ve picked this up every day so far.

November goal – week 1

I’m doing well with my goal so far. There were three little bits of knitting last Friday (1st), then Saturday I got to flex my little-used face painting skills for a Hallowe’en party at my archery club.

I was pleased with it, but I think I should have made the teeth a little bit wider.

Then every day after that I’ve managed more knitting on the baby Flax Light, and it’s finally up to the body section with 4 weeks til baby’s birthday!

Most of my crafting will be knitting this jumper I think, but I am hoping to make a start on my Christmas cards at some point soon. I’m not going nuts like some years when I made one for every slight acquaintance; instead I’m going to focus on making special cards for the people really important to me. Maybe even some bloggy friends if I can dig out that email with the addresses on.

How’s your November going?

Ho Ho Oh.

I feel like I say this every time, but where did this month go?? It’s whizzed by and I’ve hardly got anything done!

These were my goals for November:

  1. Get my snowflakes listed in my shop.
  2. Write up my waffle hat pattern
  3. Make at least one Christmas present per week.
  4. Make all Christmas cards for my family/friends

Number 1 has got nowhere at all thanks to rubbish winter light, busy, busy weekends, and my new ring light not working. Sadface.

BUT the good news is number 2 is complete! I have finally written up my waffle hat pattern!! I don’t know why I faffed about for so long, it was basically ready in the blog post and I just had to neaten it up a bit.

Does anyone fancy having a test of it for me? Just to make sure I haven’t written in any stupid mistakes or missed out something vital. If you’re interested, drop me an email at quietwatercraft at gmail dot com.

My third goal went a bit by the wayside when I got distracted by my new circular knitting needles. Although one of the hats I made is a gift so at least I wasn’t completely off track!

I’ve started two amigurumis this week, which will end up as Christmas presents, so I’m not too far behind schedule. Yet 😉

The Christmas cards are actually going pretty well, I just haven’t shown any of them on here. I finally have a night off this evening so my plan is to finish up the last few, and that’ll be another goal complete.

It helps that I’ve gone for quite simple designs this year with a lot of blank space; I must be going through a minimalist phase!

Well there we go I’ve managed half of my goals, that’s not as bad as I thought. I’ve decided not to set any goals for December though. It’ll be busy enough with singing events, secret Santas, cards and presents to make, and Christmas meals with everyone.  I just hope I can get my Christmas goodies into my shop before the actual day arrives!

How was your November? Did you have goals and did you meet them? Let me know in the comments!
