I’m (still) a stress buyer

So there are even more new goodies to show off!

Firstly, my love of Doctor Who had to be recognised so I ordered a box from Twisted Yarns Store on Etsy, which included candles:

A sticker of the ninth Doctor, which I’ve misplaced (not too gutted – he’s not my Doctor).

Some stitch markers:

And some pretty, pretty sock yarn minis:

It was the blue that really sold me. It’s so deep and Tardis-y and gorgeous.

I treated myself to a couple of pin badges, then found a few more while sorting my extensive jewellery collection, so my crafty bag now looks like this:

I don’t think I’ve shared a project bag I got from Clara Rose Crafts on Etsy so here it is:

It came with stitch markers attached and a cool freebie!

There were also some less exciting but useful items, like more T-pins and some fancy blocking combs. No idea if that’s what they’re actually called, but that’s what they remind me of.

That’s everything I’ve ordered during lockdown (at the moment) so that’ll be my last happy mail for a while. Better get back to using up some stash!

I’m a stress buyer

I’m really trying not to add to stash mountain, but I can’t not spend money on crafty stuff when I’m this anxious.

So instead I’ve been looking at some shiny new accessories. First up I wanted a proper project bag, and I spotted this one on Jibbyroo Sews:

Which came in the prettiest packaging with a proper nice teabag and a free stitch marker.

I deeeefinitely recommend the Etsy shop if you’re looking for some pretties.

Then I went on a search for some stitch markers, and geezo are there a lot to choose from! It turned out to be an easy peasy choice though, as soon as I saw a set of afternoon tea markers from KoPo UK:

I can’t believe how teeny and perfect they are – just look at that little crumpet! And the sugar cube feels like a real sugar cube! Also on the recommend list for sure.

There were so many pretty things in both shops it’s very likely I’ll be visiting again next payday.

Remembering how to amigurumi

Current WIP count: 5

Gosh it’s nice to be back to small projects after so many blankets.

Work has resumed on Morag the Highland Coo, and somehow after a long break the loop stitch feels much easier than it did all those months ago. Maybe my brain just needed time to process it before jumping in?

This is most of a body. I’m using my stash of ends and scraps as stuffing, which is great motivation to keep the stitches tight; I don’t want those Lego brick brights peeking through!

I also have a pretty Toft project bag to keep all the pieces in so they don’t end up spread all over my flat like the poor dragon I started forever ago.

Yesterday I found out it is possible to be too ill to crochet, but I’m feeling human again today and really enjoying getting back to amigurumi. I must remember this next time I’m tempted to start three massive projects all at the same time…

White rabbits!

I have two totally different finishes to show for myself this week.

After a solid weekend of crochet and Buffy/Angel, I finished the Kalinda shawl with only a slight adjustment to the pattern.

It’s such a simple pattern that I didn’t want to add any faff with the border. I planned to end with another row of dc, but halfway down the first side I realised that the yarn was running out rather quickly and I would never win this game of yarn chicken. So I frogged back and went for a row of sc with 3 chains at the point to make it a bit pointier. I think it looks pretty good!

It is suuuuuper tempting to hold on to this beauty, but I already have more than enough scarves and shawls so now I have to decide who to give it to.

Stats
Yarn: Cotton Kings Twirl
Colourway: Brazilian Opal
Hook: 3.5mm
Pattern: Kalinda shawl by Crochetory

My second finish is the Caron Cake project bag I started a couple of weeks ago.

I’m still not a huge fan of the colours so not tempted to keep this one. Would anyone be interested in a giveaway for it?

It was pretty simple to make so I might do another one for myself in prettier colours.

Stats
Yarn: Caron Cake x2
Colourway: Strawberry trifle
Hook: 5.5mm
Pattern: One skein wonder carry-all

And that’s what I did this week. Anyone else got some FOs? Interested in winning the bag? Let me know in the comments!
