FO Friday 07.12.18

Crochet magazines are just terrible, always jumping into my shopping basket when I’m not looking.

This time Inside Crochet came home with me, which is nothing at all to do with the adorable little snowflake decoration kit that came with it.

I couldn’t sleep last night so I got to it and finished both decorations in just over an hour.

Yay insomnia!

It was nice to get some little finishes when all my other projects are a bit of a mission.

Oh and I made a birthday card

I am enjoying playing with these tiny triangles.

So how was your week? Got any FOs to share? Let me know in the comments!

FO Friday 09.11.18

My Nautilus is finally finished! It’s so pretty.

And also enormous; I’ve had to pin some of it to my carpet because the blocking mats aren’t big enough.

I can’t wait for it to dry out so I can start wearing it!

In non-yarny news, one of my colleagues is leaving for a new job today so I made her a leaving card.

It’s inspired by Claire93’s F2F quilt, with the added bonus that my colleague used to live in Amsterdam so windmills have special meaning to her.

That’s what I’ve been doing this week, and now I’m wondering what to knit to fill the Nautilus-shaped hole in my life. What’s everyone else up to? Got some FOs to share? Let me know in the comments!

Tangle of the week: Quiltz

So it turns out Knyt is not the only craft-inspired Tangle out there. This week I discovered the amazing Quiltz.
Here is the official tutorial, and here is my step by step:

Make a grid (surprisingly neat for me)

Draw one set of diagonal lines, preferably in one continuous line rather than taking pen from paper for each little box.

Draw the opposite diagonals

Now, here I add in an extra step just to keep myself neat. The official step-out just says to draw a plus sign in the centre of each cross, but I put in all the vertical lines at once

Followed by the horizontal lines.

Then join the tips of the plus signs to the corners of each box. First in one direction.

Then the other.

And it’s done! When I look at the finished Tangle my eyes switch back and forth between seeing the four-pointed shapes I drew, and big stars made by the spaces in between.

It’s quite similar to Hemp, isn’t it? Another of my favourites.

So what do you think of Quiltz? Have any of you made a quilt like this before? Let me know in the comments!
