Winner, winner

I am officially no longer allowed to say that I never win anything. Inspired by a conversation I had on Yolanda’s blogiversary giveaway (go check it out!), here’s a round up of my blogging wins from last year.

From Cherry Heart Blog I won a copy of Colourful Crochet by Marianne Dekker-Roos.

Even more wonderful, I immediately started a puff stitch scarf and when it started to go a peculiar shape I sent a message to Marianne on Instagram, and she answered me!! She talked me through it and we had a lovely conversation, and I basically felt like I was dreaming. I had a crochet conversation with a crochet superstar. Wow.

When Julias creative year had a blogiversary giveaway I knew instantly which card was my favourite, but also that I would have been happy if I won any of the lovely prizes. Then the results day came, and would you believe I won my favourite.

I was introduced to I am simply hooked through Stitching Santa (which is brilliant by the way – you should totally join this year!), and I really enjoyed reading and commenting on lots of posts. Then Jenny had a giveaway for guessing which of her items sold best. It was actually really hard to decide and I dithered for ages between the jellyfish and the cute spiders. In the end I went for jellyfish and I was right, hooray!

My prize was one of the fab jellyfish, which is now hanging quite happily from my pull-up bar.

He helps me get stronger

And finally – remember I made some Daisies for Vicky?

These were sent down to England to be made into a blanket, which would then be raffled off to raise money for Victim Support. People could donate any amount they wanted, and every £1 was one entry into the raffle.

I think I donated £2 just to bring the total up to a round number, and with absolutely no expectation of winning when there were people who donated £10 or £20 or even more. But guess what?

Totally won!

Lynda’s Craft Room did an unbelievable job of joining the squares together, it’s so neat!! Then Lisa from the Wee House of Crochet sent it over and I have not stopped admiring it since.

Before anyone asks, yes I did do the lottery last year (several times) and no I didn’t even win a tenner. I suppose you can’t win them all!

So that was my incredibly lucky 2017. Did anyone else win last year? Let me know in the comments!

Stitching santa 2017

I know I’m a bit late to the party, I didn’t manage to get any passable photos before heading to see my parents for a week. But I’m back now so here is my stitching santa gift!

Some gorgeous, squishy, beautiful yarn

Some lip balm

A pretty brooch

A notebook (you can never have too many)

A dinky little dove

Some candles

This super pretty…I think it’s a pot holder?

Look at this detail!

And buttons!! My favourite!

There were also some chai teabags and some hot chocolate, but they’re long gone 😉

Thank you sooo much Julia for my amazing present! Oh and a lovely card

And mahoosive thanks to Sewchet for setting this all up. It’s been so much fun, giving and receiving, and I’m definitely signing up next year.

Happy new year everyone!

Stitching santa 2017

The final part of my stitching santa gift finally arrived on Friday so I’m ready to box it up and send it out!

I was actually waiting on the smallest part of the gift, but it’s also my favourite part!

It’s this here polymer clay, teeny tiny yarn skein!

Isn’t it cute!! I’ve threaded it with some ribbon to make a pretty necklace

Also going into the box will be:

This adorable little bauble

Some suitably Christmassy candles

It’s not Christmas without chocolate

A variety of tasty tea sachets (no photo, sorry!)

And this little guy

It looks far less like a skeleton octopom in real life. Honestly.

And I’ll stick in a skein of actual yarn or two, because that’s what we all truly love.

My secret santa was also organised so I’ve actually received my gift already! But I’m running off to choir now so I’ll have to post about that another day.

Has anyone else received their gift? Are you part of a secret santa outside the blogosphere? Let me know in the comments!

WIP Wednesday 18.10.17

Current WIP count: 5

I’d got it right down to three. Three! But then I realised I wouldn’t be able to make it to the naming day of my friend’s twin girls, so I just had to make something to send to them in my stead.

Which leads to me making my very first foray into lovies. I really like these cute little blankies so I’m not sure why I’ve never made one before, but better late than never.

I’m following this Red Heart pattern, and using up the last bit of two Caron Cakes I had left after making my puff stitch scarf and star blanket; Funfetti and Mixed Berry.

Yes, they’re different colours, and the heads will be different animals as well. I know from experience (I have a brother and a sister) what battles can ensue when siblings have two of the same item.

I also remember how cross I used to get when my Aunty bought me and my sister exactly the same presents year in year out, when we’re as different as it’s possible to be while still being related. I will not be that Aunty.

I’ve only done a couple of rounds of the Funfetti one so there’s not much point showing that, but this is where I’m up to with the Mixed Berry one.

I may have nicked some Funfetti orange for the inside of the second ear…

As the naming day is Friday next, everything else is on hold so I can get these finished and posted out in time. I’ve got a few free evenings this week so I should manage it.

In other news, I just signed up for #stitchingsanta2017 and I’m super excited! A secret santa just for crafty people, it can only be amazing 😀 Click on the link to have a looksee and join in if you fancy it.

Got any lovie tips for me? Thinking of joining #stitchingsanta2017? Let me know in the comments!
