WIP clear out

Starting WIP count: 7

Having decided it would be good to go into 2019 with as clear a WIP list as possible, I had a good hard look at the list and made some decisions.

WIP 1: lacy scarf

IMG_20170309_173723_579

This has been sitting in my WIP drawer for several months. And by several months I mean over a year. I’m clearly not feeling it, so I frogged the whole thing and caked the yarn so it’s ready for a more enthusing project.

WIP 2: Knitted blanket

20180614_180926-1.jpg

This has also been lying around for months (although not as long as the scarf) waiting for me to add a third colour. But, being realistic, it’s a charity blanket for cats; they don’t care how many colours it has. So I cast off and packaged it up ready to go to the cat shelter this weekend.

WIP 3: Roses for Grandma.

20181031_180354-1.jpg

This one stays. I’ve collected everything into one project bag so I have a better idea of my progress and I don’t have to hunt around for the right yarn every time I come back to it.

WIP 4: Furls crochet-along skirt

20180828_101255.jpg

I’m still dithering over this one, it may yet be frogged and abandoned. It just takes so many tiny stitches to get around my hips!

WIP 5: Mittens

20181107_145354.jpg

These should be finished by tomorrow so I can cross them off too.

WIP 6: Sunrise Scarf

20181128_173212-1.jpg

This one’s a Christmas present so will be finished before 2019 rolls around.

WIP 7: dragon

20180626_173007-1.jpg

My dragon is now a drake. I gave up on the wings and stuffed the parts so now it just needs sewing together.

Final WIP count by new year: 2 (possibly 1 if I bin the skirt).

That’s a clean enough slate for me! Of course I’m making a few Christmas presents this year so the count will go up again before it comes down, but I’m confident that I can slide into 2019 with only a couple of projects on the go.

Which will leave me with tons of space on the WIP list to start exciting new projects! Hooray!

WIP Wednesday 27.12.17

Current WIP count: 6

I have a confession to make. This is the current state of my snorlax gift

Two days past Christmas and he still needs an arm and two feet attached.

Shame.

My problem is I’ve crocheted him so tightly that I snapped two needles trying to sew the parts together.

I’m currently using this beastie, which seems rather difficult to snap even if I tried.

But it’s still hard going and impossible to rush the job. He will be finished before I head back to Glasgow though.

I’m also working on some more fingerless bottle warmers for a friend. These are deliberately late, as I knew I wouldn’t see her until later in the week.

My brother loved his pokemon amis, and made them his cover photo on Facebook as soon as he opened them. I also made a little something for my mum and a family friend, which I’ll share on Friday, and they loved them too. I am so happy when people like my makes.

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas, and that you managed to finish all your presents on time!

WIP Wednesday 26.07.17

Current WIP count: 10

I’m weak! With only 3 things crossed off my WIP list, I started another one.

But really, how could I resist this gorgeous tabby cat yarn from Mothy and the Squid?

Especially after I managed to turn it into a rather presentable cake.

To understand how proud I am of this little ball, here’s the last skein I tried to turn into a cake.

It took me 10 days to sort the mess I made.

So this beautiful yarn was sitting on the table, staring at me, when I came across the Lost In Time shawl pattern. It was an intsant yes! This is what I have so far and already I love it:

As for my other WIPs, I’ve done more rounds on the star blanket, and now I’m trying to decide whether I really want to use a whole second Caron Cake on it. I’m beginning to think not. Maybe I could use the rest to make various matching accessories. We’ll see.

Still behaving.

Side note: working on a sock yarn and an aran yarn project at the same time is a strange experience. It always feels like I’m either working with cobwebs or nautical rope.

There’s been a little progress on the doily; somewhat stalled because I’m really not sure about the colours I’ve chosen. I’m waiting for the requester to get back to me and let me know if it’s okay.

I also tried attaching two wheels to the camper van, but they’re wonky. I have yet to face removing them and trying again.

Curse these wheels.

The two kindle cosies are on the blocking mats and I’ll sew them up once they’re dry.

So we’re still in double figures for my WIP list, but I have to admit I’m not sorry at all!

What are you working on this week? Started any irresistible WIPs? Let me know in the comments!

WIP Wednesday

I realised I have an awful lot of WIPs going on at the moment.  So I thought I’d name and shame, and hopefully that’ll motivate me to get some of them finished!

Camper van amigurumi

My mum asked me to make this, so of course it jumped straight to the top of my WIP list. Isn’t it cute! I really hope mine will actually look like the photo…

12-pointed star blanket

After frogging this thing almost back to the beginning twice, I can’t wait to get it done and crossed off the list.

Oval star doily

Another commission, which I got by crocheting during my choir rehearsals. Craft in public, people; you never know what might come of it! I’ve waited over a month for the yarn to arrive so this is second on the priority list after the camper van.

Amigurumi cactus.

What is this yarn?? It’s terrible! But my cactus is turning out super cute despite my yarny struggles  🙂

Puff stitch scarf

20170712_182507-1

I’m still loving the puff stitch, and this scarf is growing super quick. I’ll probably be able to use it as soon as it’s finished if the Scottish weather keeps living up to its reputation.

Lacy scarf

Confession: I had completely forgotten about this scarf. I found it at the bottom of my WIP drawer and had an “oh yeah!” moment. Shame.

Kindle cosy x2

20170712_182536-1

These are both nearly done, I’ve just been putting off the finishing touches for some reason.

Chevron doggy blanket

It was supposed to be a baby blanket, but this is very old acrylic yarn that squeaks across my hook if I go too fast. You know the type. Nobody would put this anywhere near a baby’s skin.

Mystery hook

I had an idea, which I’m still trying to work out. Hopefully there will be a post soon where I can declare it an amazing success!

Amigurumi octopod keyring

20170709_111057-1
Another idea I had, which is proving somewhat successful. I’ve made two so far, tweaking the pattern each time, and this is my third attempt.

Celtic knot coaster

I also forgot about this. More shame.

So there’s my list. My looooong list. I think it’s time to implement a new rule: no new WIPs until this lot is finished!

What’s everyone else working on? Got more than one WIP on the go? Let me know in the comments
