WIP Wednesday 24.10.18

Current WIP count: 8

After pretty much nonstop knitting for two days at the weekend, I have made some serious progress on my nautilus shawl. Not that you can tell with it all bunched up on my cable.

Apologies for the photo quality. It’s a dreich day in Glasgow.

I’m just over two thirds done and getting excited about reaching the finish line.

I’ve also made a start on a little robin bauble for my Mum. She loves robins, as they’re a reminder of her Mum (my Grandma), so I’m thinking of making a wee set of three for her.

It’s a very different experience to amigurumi, I must say. Lots of blindly following the pattern without really understanding where it’s going, then having an AHA moment when it all comes together. The sewing up is still definitely my least favourite part though.

Hobbycraft supplied me with some enormous skeins of cream yarn so I can get back to my Roses for Grandma blanket again. I want to make some real headway this week. It would be good to aim for some form of completion, like ‘make all of the roses’, but that’s a bit difficult as I don’t know what size I want it to be yet. Maybe I’ll focus on completing all the squares I’ve started so far.

So that’s what I’m working on this week. What’s everyone else making? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Hobbycraft supplied me with some emergency interfacing for a Christmas present workshop I held this week. Other than that, I’m knitting socks, a jumper and a poncho for Christmas gifts, along with several sewn gifts. Playing catch up really, as I usually start much earlier in the year. What’s not to love about a robin bauble or three?!

  2. I love the Nautilus shawl, Hannah…those colors are fabulous! 😍
I’m making another ‘Grannies, not your Granny’s’ sweater 😊 It’s getting colder now, so I have an incentive to finish it, and not stop right before the finish line 😆
And of course some WIPS where I did just that.
I can’t wait to see the finished ‘Robin Baubles’ 😃💕
